We will give preference to a yogin/yoginî who has learned the
lessons of samsâra, is open to creative feedback, and enjoys
living and working in a peaceful environment and a small community with
a strong ethos of serving others. This program is ideal for someone
with independent means but a thirst for spiritual practice, good company,
and service.
We offer volunteers two options:
1. Short term (1 – 14 days)
OPTION 1: Practicing Karma-Yoga 4
hours per day (with the remainder of the day for resting,
hiking, studying, asana practice, meditation, etc.), you
purchase and cook your own vegetarian food and pay YREC $12
per day for utilities and lodging. We are flexible about
service times.
OPTION 2: Practicing Karma-Yoga 6
hours per day (with the remainder of the day for resting,
hiking, studying, asana practice, meditation, etc.), you purchase
and cook your own vegetarian food and YREC provides
utilities and lodging.
2. Longer term (2 weeks
– 3 months):
Practicing Karma-Yoga 35 hours per week,
you receive free room and board.
In exceptional cases, other arrangements can be made.
Benefits to you:
the good company of fellow practitioners (YREC's
small staff and other volunteers)
a beautiful, peaceful, and healthy environment
wonderful meditation and hiking locations
opportunity to participate in residents' daily meditation and
Hatha-Yoga and weekly (Buddhist) pûjâ
access to YREC's library
enlivening participation in a unique Yoga project
The residents practice Tibetan Buddhist Yoga, but YREC's orientation
is nondenominational, and we welcome practitioners of all branches of
Yoga.
